I first sat down at a piano when I was five and fell in love with the instrument, in fact my parents usually had to tell me to STOP practising! I went on to read music at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. I majored in composition and developed a strong interest in improvisational music, in particular jazz.
After graduating I worked for many years as a journalist but I am now a full-time musician. This means that I am likely to be available when many part-time pianists are having to hold down day jobs. I work closely with my clients to ensure that just the right mood is created for each phase of their event. I'm professional and friendly without being intrusive.
My repertoire is extremely wide and varied (requests are welcome), and includes jazz standards from the "Great American Songbook" (Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin etc); songs from the shows and musicals (Rogers and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber and so on); the swing hits of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and others, and classic pop tunes from the likes of Elton John and Billy Joel.
