Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t answered here, please contact me directly.
Why Art of Piano?
Unlike many pianists you’ll see performing at weddings and other functions, I don’t play from a book. All the tunes in my repertoire (with the exception of some classical pieces) are my own original arrangements, played from memory. So no other pianist will sound quite like me! Listen to the sound clips on this site – all recorded live with no overdubs or editing – and compare them with my competitors.
My venue doesn’t have a piano – is this a problem?
Absolutely not. Included in the fee is the complimentary supply of a professional quality digital piano, which will sound like the real deal! If you wish to hire a grand piano, I can also arrange this for you, though please be aware that this is by no means a cheap option.
Where are you based, and which areas of the country do you cover?
Like most professional pianists, I’m happy to cover the entire UK, although travel distance is reflected in my fees. I live in Staffordshire, so I am very conveniently situated for engagements in Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire and the West Midlands.
How much do you charge?
This varies for each client, so unfortunately it’s impossible to give an indication of price on this website. Please get in touch for a formal quotation.
Can you pencil in this date…?
Sorry, but I cannot undertake to hold any date without a firm booking. It just gets too complicated!
Can you learn this song for my wedding/civil partnership…?
For civil ceremonies, I’m very happy to play your choice of music for the three customary musical spots – the entrance of the bride or couple, the signing of the register and the conclusion of the ceremony. I don’t normally work from a fixed setlist when I play solo, as I find it more flexible and less formal, but if there are songs from my repertoire list you particularly wish to hear, you’re more than welcome to send me a list in advance and I’ll work them into the performance.
Can you provide recorded music over breaks?
Yes, I can stream music from an MP3 player from my own collection, or you are welcome to provide an MP3 player with your own music on, which can easily be connected to my sound system.
Do you have public liability insurance (PLI) and is your equipment certified by Portable Appliance Testing (PAT test)?
Yes, and proof of either can be emailed to any venues requiring them.
